Reaching out to the local community in the Spirit of St. Francis of AssisiSt Francis House receives grant in support of its work and mission
The work of this community lifeline was acknowledged in a significant way on April 26, 2022 when Francis House was awarded a $300,000 grant from Prince William County in partnership with the Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William.
St. Francis House, an outreach ministry of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, was established in 1992. Its main objective is to serve the many needs of the low-income, disadvantaged families in the Eastern Prince William County. St. Francis House is located in a rented townhouse within the Williamstown community at 2606 Heth Court., Dumfries, VA 22026

You can help those in need through our programs, including the Food Pantry, Financial Assistance for the needy, and Meals for the Homeless Shelter.

How We Help
St. Francis House is well recognized in the Prince William County area for all the support that we provide in our community. Services include:
- Assistance with utility disconnect notices (electric, gas, and water)
- Rental assistance
- Emergency prescription assistance for uninsured individuals
- Transportation assistance (i.e. assistance with gas, yellow cab…)
- Funeral assistance
- Food pantry
- Community referral/resources
- School supplies donations
- Un-trim a Tree (Christmas gifts for local children)
- Meal assistance to Prince Willaim County Shelters
- Thanksgiving
How you can help
There are many ways you can help and be part of the Ministry of outreach:
- Donation of food items (as requested in the bulletin and eNewsletter)
- Donation of school supplies (in the period before the start of school)
- At Christmas time, support the Christmas giving tree program
- On-going and one time financial support
Supporting the Food Pantry
“The generous man is blessed. For he gives of his bread to the poor.”- Proverbs 22:9 St. Francis House provides food for financially troubled families in Dumfries, Triangle and Quantico. The food pantry is a success thanks to the help of the parishioners who graciously donate.

Collect for the Pantry – Is your Youth Group, Office, Social Group or ministry looking for a way to give to the community? Print off copies of the Grocery List and organize a food drive. Grocery List: Thank you so much for the contributions to the food pantry. We are always in need for food for the food pantry. Here is the list of items included in our food bags:
- 1 can of fruit
- 1 jar or can of spaghetti sauce
- 2 cans of soup
- 1 lb. package spaghetti
- 2 packs of Macaroni & cheese
- 1 box of cereal
- 2 cans of soup
- 1 box of pasta (elbow macaroni, egg noodles, bow tie pasta, etc.)
- 2 meat products (tuna, stew, roast beef, chicken, corned beef, hash, spam, ham, etc.)
- 2 vegetables (corn, green beans, peas, mixed vegetables, carrots, etc.)

Financial Assistance
St. Francis House assists residents of Eastern Prince William County who have received disconnection notices for utilities (electric, gas, oil, propane, water and sewer). St. Francis House provided emergency assistance to more than 900 households in 2020. We provided more than $60,000.00 in assistance for utility bills, rent, prescriptions, transportation assistance, funeral assistance, job assistance and food assistance.
